![]() Julie Corkrean | Director, Abdominal Transplant, J.C. Walter Jr. Transplant Center Julie joined Houston Methodist Hospital in 2008 and currently serves as the Director of Abdominal Transplant Services. Before her time at Houston Methodist, she held positions in the field of transplant, including Manager of Solid Organ and BMT Transplant Services at Kaiser Permanente in Denver, Colorado. Prior to that, she worked as a Transplant Coordinator for the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Program at UCLA. Julie began her nursing career as a travel nurse, specializing in acute dialysis. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Montana State University and an MBA from Western Governor’s University. ![]() Katherine G. Meneses, DNP, FNP-BC, CCTC | Nurse Practitioner – Post Liver Transplant Coordinator, UCLA Health System Katherine has been a part of UCLA Health System since 2000 and currently serves as a Nurse Practitioner - Post Liver Transplant Coordinator in the Adult Liver Transplant Program. In her previous supervisory role, she oversaw the Post Liver Transplant Coordinator team and led the development of clinical guidelines, educational initiatives, and innovative care programs — including the MAP Clinic for alcohol use disorder in transplant recipients and a multidisciplinary MASH post-transplant clinic. Earlier in her UCLA career, she coordinated clinical research in infectious disease, contributing to landmark studies in antifungal prophylaxis for liver transplant recipients. She began her nursing career in Canada, working in medical-surgical settings before transitioning to transplant care in Los Angeles. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Victoria, a Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Simmons College, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice, also from Simmons College. Dr. Victor Navarro is a Chief Clinical Officer for the Jefferson Health System, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, and Professor of Medicine at Jefferson’s Sidney Kimmel Medical College. Dr. Navarro earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Pennsylvania State College of Medicine and completed medical residency followed by chief residency in Internal Medicine at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia. Thereafter, he obtained fellowship training in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Hepatobiliary Endoscopy at Yale University after which he joined the faculty of the Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, Connecticut. In 2002, Dr. Navarro assumed a full-time position as Chief of Hepatology and Medical Director for Liver Transplantation at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he rose to the rank of Professor of Medicine, Pharmacology, and Experimental Therapeutics at the Jefferson Medical College, now the Sidney Kimmel Medical College. Dr. Navarro is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH/NIDDK) to study liver injury resulting from herbal and dietary supplements, and by the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to study novel models for delivery of palliative care to patients with advanced stage liver disease.
