Advanced Techniques in Hepatobiliary Surgery

The Advanced Techniques in Hepatobiliary Surgery SIG recognizes the potential of recent innovations in hepatobiliary surgery to improve outcomes in liver transplantation, and vice-versa.

SIG Aims and Proposed Activities:

This Special Interest Group recognizes the exciting potential of recent innovations in hepatobiliary surgery to improve outcomes in liver transplantation, and for new techniques in liver preservation and transplantation to benefit the wider population of general HPB patients. An international steering committee, led by topic coordinators Karim Halazun and Olivier Scatton, plans to develop a series of ILTS-sponsored educational and scientific initiatives, shown below. ILTS members can join this SIG from their profile page.

  1. Symposia and courses on complex hepatobiliary and transplant procedures promoting early adoption and training on new technologies on liver imaging, surgery and transplantation.
  2. Hands-on laparoscopic/robotic liver surgery courses
  3. Single-topic conferences on complex procedures such as ALPPS
  4. Featured symposia during the annual ILTS congress
  5. A group email platform for sharing of ideas and experience between liver centers around the world.
  6. New webinars and videos in ILTS Education
